1. Railway Track


Railway track along Stagnant Ring operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu or Malayan Railway will soon go back to Singapore.

2. Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

In 1986, a group of avid birdwatchers from the then Malayan Nature Society (Singapore Branch) stumbled upon this ecological jewel, and subsequently wrote a proposal to the government for its conservation. The 87 ha wetland site was consequently designated as a nature park in 1989.  On 6 Dec 1993, Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong officially opened the Nature Park.

3. ITE College West campus

Before this campus was built, it was the old Keat Hong camp. Now, it has become the home of the new ITE college

As part of the "One ITE System, Three Colleges" plan, a 9.54-hectare site at the junction of Bukit Batok Road and Choa Chu Kang Way has been allocated for the new ITE College West campus. It will operate three schools - the School of Business and Services, School of Engineering and School of Info-Comm Technology.

1. The name Chua Chu Kang is from 'Kang Chu'. In the early 19th century, this area used to be infested with tigers. Back then, the Sultan of Johore allowed Chinese immigrants known as 'Kang Chu's' to plant gambier and paper along the river bank. 'Kang' means river in Hokkien while 'Chu' was the clan name of the first headman in charge of the plantations there. It was a Chinese farming district with predominantlyTeochews settlers.

Choa Chu Kang New Town is a new town built in the north-western part of Singapore. An expansion of the existing Teck Whye Estate at the junction of Choa Chu Kang Road and Woodlands Road, it currently comprises seven neighbourhoods and incorporating Teck Whye Estate as part of neighbourhood one.
